Resources for Serving Displaced Students

NAEHCY thanks Dianne Sepielli, Local Homeless Education Liaison for Broward County Public Schools (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), for providing the following documents that can be adapted by other school districts. Broward County Public Schools has enrolled over 800 children from Haiti since the January 2010 earthquake, more than any other school district in Florida. Dianne mobilized to align with partners, create resources, and advocate for displaced children, ensuring that they were enrolled under the McKinney-Vento Act within 24 hours of seeking enrollment. Dianne created the resources included here to promote student access to academic opportunities and success.
