Julie Ratekin is currently the McKinney-Vento Consortium Coordinator and County Liaison for the Wayne County, Michigan. As the Coordinator for the largest Consortium in Michigan and working with the McKinney-Vento program for over 10 years, Julie has been a strong advocate for youth and families experiencing homelessness and a wealth of knowledge for her peers. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. Julie oversees the homeless youth programs at Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency and helped create training and professional development at the state level. As the Consortium Coordinator Julie provides professional development and program support to school districts and community organization to promote awareness of youth and families experiencing homelessness.
