Julie Ratekin
Immediate Past President, NAEHCY Board of Directors
Education Consultant, National center for homeless education (NCHE) – ICF, Inc.

Julie Ratekin brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role as an Education Consultant for NCHE, where she provides crucial training and technical assistance to state coordinators, local liaisons, and others working under the education for homeless children and youth program. Prior to this, Julie served as the Department Director for a Supportive Housing and Homeless Services team, overseeing more than 50 grants across approximately 20 program areas and managing around 80 staff members. These programs included emergency shelter, outreach, prevention, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, HMIS, and the Continuum of Care, all focused on assisting individuals and families in crisis to access shelter and work towards self-sufficiency.
Julie is a passionate advocate for students experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity, driven by the core belief that every student deserves an equal chance at an education. She firmly asserts that a student’s homelessness, which they did not cause, should never interfere with their educational journey.
Through education, we can ensure we are doing everything possible to help students grow, and we can support them in all ways necessary to become self-sufficient.
