Beyond the Bell: Supporting MV Students When School Ends
When the school year ends, critical supports often shift or disappear, creating increased risk for students experiencing homelessness. Without intentional planning, these transitions can disrupt academic progress, postsecondary pathways, and overall stability.
This session will focus on how McKinney-Vento liaisons can proactively support students, especially graduating seniors, by building continuity beyond the school year.
Participants will learn how to:
- Use a Summer Readiness Framework to move from reactive support to intentional transition planning
- Support MV seniors in navigating graduation and postsecondary transitions
- Prevent summer melt through early connection and follow-up planning
- Identify and address gaps in housing, transportation, and basic needs during the summer
- Coordinate supports across Title I, Title IV-B (21st CCLC), and community partners
