Competition Details

About the Job

  • The Emcee will be responsible for facilitating general sessions, introducing speakers, keeping the general session agenda on track, and ensuring a smooth flow of activities.
  • The Emcee will use a combination of provided scripted content and appropriate extemporaneous speaking to produce an informative and memorable experience for all attendees.
  • The Emcee will work closely with NAEHCY staff, our event planning team, and the on-site A/V production team.
  • The Emcee is expected to arrive by noon on Saturday, November 1 and will be assigned duties that will conclude at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4.
  • NAEHCY will cover conference travel expenses (airfare, hotel and conference registration) and provide a stipend of $1000 to the selected Emcee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Introduction
    • Welcome attendees and set the tone for the conference.
    • Provide an overview of the daily agenda and key highlights.
  • Speaker Introductions
    • Introduce keynote speakers, panelists, and other presenters.
    • Ensure speakers are properly acknowledged and their credentials are highlighted.
  • Time Management
    • Keep the general sessions on schedule by managing time effectively.
    • Make announcements to inform attendees of upcoming sessions, breaks, and any schedule changes.
  • Audience Engagement
    • Facilitate audience interaction, including Q&A sessions and live polls.
    • Maintain high energy levels to keep the audience engaged throughout the event.
  • Content Transition
    • Smoothly transition between sessions, providing relevant commentary or insights.
    • Handle any unforeseen issues or changes with professionalism and poise.

How to Enter

  • Submit a Bio: Briefly introduce yourself and your background. (Share any experience you have presenting to large groups, or serving as an event host or emcee.)
  • Tell Us Why You’re Perfect: In a short statement, explain why you believe you are the ideal candidate to emcee our conference.
  • Show Us Your Skills: This is your moment to shine! Submit a video (maximum 3 minutes) showcasing your emcee abilities. Highlight your hosting style, stage presence, and ability to connect with an audience.
  • Email Us By August 15: Send your bio, statement, and a link to view or download your video clip. Email us at conference@naehcy.org with the subject line Emcee Competition Entry.

Additional Competition Specifics

  • Open to all NAEHCY members.
  • Deadline for submissions is Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:59 pm (EDT).
  • A panel of NAEHCY stakeholders will review applications based on the criteria above. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview.
  • The winner will be announced in early September.
