Donnie Everett
At-Large Member, NAEHCY Board of Directors
Assistant Superintendent, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Monterey Peninsula Unified School District

Donnie Everett is the Assistant Superintendent of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support with Monterey Peninsula Unified School District (MPUSD) where he oversees Climate and Culture, Social Emotional Supports, Mental Health, and Physical Health supports for over 10,000 student’s pre-school through 12th grade. He has been serving the Monterey Peninsula community for 6 years, beginning his tenure within MPUSD as the Director of Social Emotional Support.
During this time, MPUSD increased implementation of Positive and Behavioral Intervention Systems across all sites by 60%, increased Mental Health Services by which all TK-12 sites have access to Social Emotional Support Staff, and established a MultiTiered System of support implementation plan district wide. Due to Donnie Everett’s work supporting Climate and Culture, MPUSD became a demonstration site, in partnership with the National Center for Youth Law and Pivot Learning Inc., developing a MTSS model for supporting vulnerable student populations, including students experiencing homelessness.
Prior to his current role, Donnie Everett began his career serving as a School Counselor at Sacramento High School and then moving into a Director of Student Support Services with St. HOPE Public Schools, serving five urban schools Preschool-12 within the heart of Sacramento. During his tenure with St. HOPE Public Schools, graduation rates improved, 4-year college eligibility rates significantly increased from 55% to 90.6% and school culture was converted from an urban chaotic and low performing setting into a rigorous college and career-prep environment where high levels of academic standards and supports were established.
What I value about NAEHCY is the opportunity to create and build spaces for learning, capacity-building, and sharing innovative strategies, and finding new ways of making those connections.
